Undercurrent

In the southern reaches of Taiwan, Zengwen River gracefully meanders through the storied Jia-Nan Plain, a landscape deeply rooted in the island's rich history and tradition.

Beneath the blazing sun, the “King’s Boats” glides upon the unwavering devotion of its people, forming a spiritual current that unites us with our heritage. The river, once dubbed the "Blind Serpent," has shifted its path numerous times over the ages. Our forebears faced the fragility of existence, and sought solace in reconciling with life's impermanence. These poignant, yet tender recollections and emotions have crystallized into symbols of faith, cultivating a resilience and serenity that endures within the hearts of the Taiwanese community.

Guided by the whispering winds, the golden light, and the fragrant embrace of pomelo blossoms, I traverse the Jia-Nan Plain, tuning into the rhythm of this hidden undercurrent. Through my photographic creations, I strive to capture and convey the collective memories and emotions of the Taiwanese people that bridge generations.
